Louise & Robert- Skelsmergh Village Hall

Louise and Robert where married in Natland Church in my home town of Kendal this August. It is always lovely to photograph a local wedding and I usually see some familiar faces.

I started my photography at the Bride’s house and everyone was in great spirits. Helen from Definitions mobile beauty provided the make up and Debbie and Clare from Debonair worked magic on everyone’s hair.

The weather was very much a big factor as the couple held their reception at Skelsmergh Village Hall and had a lovely marquee outside, hired from Lancashire marquee Hire. The day was great and the rain held off.

Drinks and bar were professionally set up by The Punchbowl in Crosthwaite, who were kept busy for most of the day and evening.

Afternoon tea was served for the wedding breakfast, followed by a buffet and dancing in the evening.

Emma-Leigh & Shane- Abbey House Hotel

Stunning! Stunning! Stunning! are the three words I use to describe this wedding!

Emma -Leigh and Shane were married at Abbey House Hotel in Barrow-in-Furness this July. There were actually 4 in this marriage as their beautiful Malamut dogs were there the whole way through and one of them even had a go pro attached to his collar to record the whole event!

It was a long day for me, as I travelled to the hotel for 10.00am and stayed all day including the evening reception.

One of my highlights was to be able to use Furness Abbey for some dramatic photography.

All the guests and bridal party, made me feel very much part of the day and I had a fantastic time.

I am so grateful for being able to have a job that I love and meet such wonderful people at so many happy, special occasions.

Megan & Francis- Belmount Hall

Megan and Francis were married at Hawkshead Church in July this year, followed by a reception at Belmount Hall near Ambleside. The Bride’s Uncle was David Farnell who I have known for 25 years and developed all of my negatives and photographs at his laboratory in the days before digital, so it was lovely to see him and his lovely wife Sally again. Their beautiful daughter Emily, was also one of the bridesmaids.

Megan and her family greeted me at the breakfast table at Belmount Hall when I arrived and everyone was really relaxed, ready for the day ahead. The couple’s children were all lovely and their baby was a joy to photograph.

One of the highlights of the day for me were the speeches, as so many guests got up to say a few words and it was a very special occasion.

Jennifer & Matthew- Muncaster castle

Sometimes, venues are like buses. You don’t see one for a while and then have two weddings within a couple of weeks of each other. Muncaster Castle was one of these venues as I photographed two lovely weddings here in June.

Jennifer and Matthew came up with their two gorgeous children and had a very quiet ceremony which was full of emotion.

I was with Jennifer on the morning and did her wedding makeup as well as the photography. We had a lovely, relaxed morning and Jennifer walked down with her children to the castle.

Afterwards, we spent time in the beautiful gardens.

I left the family to enjoy their afternoon tea in the castle.

Hollie and Daniel- Muncaster Castle

Wow! What a long day it was photographing Hollie and Daniel’s wedding at Muncaster Castle this summer. I say Muncaster Castle, but that was only part of this wonderful day and I enjoyed every minute.

I started at Hollie’s house in Egremont and all was very busy with makeup artists and hairdressers, working their magic on the Bride and bridesmaids.

We then took the half hour journey to Muncaster at which time it was raining but brollies up and everyone managed to dash in and keep dry.

After the ceremony, photographs were taken inside which is always a challenge at Muncaster as it is rather low light, but a beautiful building for a wedding.

Fortunately, the couple had booked me for all day and after their wedding breakfast, the sun shone and it was like a completely different day.

We took a trip over to the breath taking Waste Water ( I was corrected by locals to pronounce it Wost Water), by Tony from Cars of Distinction, based in Langwathby. I have known Tony for years and it was lovely to have a ride out down the country lanes in his beautiful 1949 Rolls Royce Wraith.

The scenery provided a spectacular backdrop for some lovely images and it was great to photograph in a location I had never used before.

We returned to Muncaster and the couple danced the night away in The Old Laundry, back at Muncaster.

I was ready for a sit down by the time I had driven an hour and a half back home!!

Jessica and Andrew- The Merewood

Jessica and Andrew were married at The Merewood Country House Hotel, in Windermere in June earlier this year.

I arrived early to capture the girls getting ready.  They all looked radiant and there was a lovely, calm atmosphere in the room.

As so often is, we had a morning with torrential rain and the day looked as though it was going to be a very much indoor wedding.

These often work out to be an advantage as the couple not only had indoor shots after the ceremony but the rain cleared away and we were able to go out into the beautiful grounds also.

Kellie & Paul-Storrs Hall

Well, it’s been 4 months since this lovely couple tied the knot in May this year at Storrs Hall in Windermere. I have been so busy with my wedding photography and beauty treatments that I haven’t been able to catch up on my blogs until now.

I photographed Paul’s sister’s wedding and was also her makeup artist 14 years ago!!! (how time flies). so it was great to see lots of familiar faces again.

The couple were lucky enough to marry outside in the pavilion as it had been a bit touch and go with showers.

Everyone had a super day and all looked gorgeous.

Lorraine & Ian- Grasmere

Lorraine and Ian eloped to Gretna Green in May with their two friends. They were married at the Blacksmith’s shop and then travelled back to Ambleside to stay at The Waterhead Hotel which is stylish and modern inside.

I met them en route at Rydal and we had a lovely walk to the south shores of Grasmere. Wellies on, this fabulous couple waded into the lake for some fun shots. Lorraine never stopped laughing all afternoon and you could see how much this coupe truly love each other.

We finished off the shoot back in Ambleside and I left them drinking champagne as I headed off back to Grasmere for a commercial shoot.

Jessica & Andrew- Merewood Country House

I set off on a wet day to photograph the wedding of Jessica and Andrew at The Merewood Country House near Ambleside a couple of weeks ago. I love the grandeur of this building as you ascend the long driveway to the car park at the top of the hill.

I had photographed the wedding of the Groom’s Mother  five years previously so it was lovely to see everyone again and also meet some new faces.

All the bridesmaids were in good spirits and enjoyed getting ready with the beautiful bride- Jessica.

The ceremony was held at the venue and we did get a break I the rain and were able to venture outside for 15 minutes to photograph the lovely gardens and views.

Catherine & Martyn Blaithwaite House

In 25 years of being a wedding photographer, I have never had the honour of photographing at Blaithwaite House in Wigton before. A hidden gem with absolutely beautiful gardens and a grand, welcoming house which is a perfect venue for a wedding. Catherine and her bridesmaids looked amazing as they walked across the lawn to the ceremony which was held outside. The setting was very unique, surrounded by a wildlife pond and trees.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn and food was supplied by Lizs country Kitchen. the reception took place in a wonderful barn, which was also used for the night entertainment provided by Fraudio, which were a very entertaining cover band who had travelled up from Warwickshire. They kept the house rocking all night. I finally arrived back home at 9.45pm ready to kick off my shoes and enjoy a Chinese. A lovely day!
